Summary

As a clinician–investigator, leader, mentor, and administrator, Dr Manesh Patel has embodied the mission of the American Heart Association (AHA) “to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives.” Whether through his pioneering work as a clinical trialist, leading by example rounding on short‐staffed services, staffing the catheterization laboratory on Fridays, mentoring faculty members and trainees, or staunchly advocating for the delivery of high‐quality care closer to where patients live, his impact on the investigation and delivery of cardiovascular care, as well as the formation of its next generation of leaders has been impactful at the local, regional, national, and international levels.

As trainees and colleagues of Dr Patel, we are honored to have the opportunity to share his story so that all of our fellow cardiovascular providers, scientists, educators, policymakers, and trainees can share our excitement for his leadership as the next president of the AHA.
